London mayor is hunting for new busking talent

BuskingLondon mayor Boris Johnson has called upon aspiring musicians to enter a competition to compete for a 12-month license to busk on London’s underground network.
The news comes just after the mayor released details of his new musical scheme for the capital, which aims to get more young people involved in music by providing additional funding to schools and projects.
Mr Johnson commented: “I’m searching for the finest act to join the myriad of talented musicians on the Underground.”
He added that this is a “brilliant opportunity” for young guitar players and other musicians to gain live experience and get their songs heard.
Since the licences were introduced seven years ago 240 musicians have been granted permission to perform in the London Underground network.
The London Underground busking scheme was implemented so that Transport for London could regulate the activity and ensure high standards of quality.
