Liverpool to celebrate John Lennon

John LennonThe city of Liverpool has announced plans to hold a two-month long cultural scheme to celebrate the music of former Beatle, John Lennon.
Organisations in the region are set to band together to offer a series of music, film, poetry and art events in tribute to the legendary musician, who would be celebrating his 70th birthday this year.
Among the offerings that Lennon fans can view include a tribute concert, birthday celebration, poetry competition, film festival and lecture programme dedicated to the singer.
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Mike Storey, commented on the programme, describing Lennon as one of the most iconic figures of recent times.
“His enduring message of peace is as important now as ever and continues to be an inspiration to many.
“The John Lennon Tribute Season will allow us to remember him as a man, celebrate his music, and his overall contribution to our city.”
