
The soundtrack to Les Misérables, the film adaption of the musical theater phenomenon based on the book by Victor Hugo, has topped the UK and Ireland box office chart for the second week in a row.
Having already won three Golden Globes awards, the film which stars Hugh Jackman, Russel Crow and Anne Hathaway is also nominated for eight Oscars, including the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the specially written track, Suddenly, as sung by Jackman on screen.
Les Misérables scored the biggest UK opening week for a movie musical with £8.1m last week, and its soundtrack’s chart success is the first time a cast recording has topping the album chart in 16 years.
