Johnny Robinson and The Risk have become the latest casualties of the X Factor competition in last night’s shock double eviction.The results are likely to have surprised many viewers, as seemingly unpopular acts like Frankie Cocozza still remain in the running.
All of the contestants took to the stage on Saturday (November 5th) for a night of fireworks, as the judges continued to disagree with each other.
This time it was Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh who sent sparks flying, while Tulisa and Kelly Rowland seemed to have made up after a fortnight of backstage bickering.
Meanwhile, the contestants made their mark on stage by performing songs under a club classics theme. Winners with the judges on the night came from Marcus Collins singing Jackie Wilson’s Reet Petite and Little Mix with Please Don’t Stop the Music.
However, The Risk were first to go after failing to impress viewers with their rendition of Shalamar’s A Night to Remember. It was then down to the two remaining contestants in Louis’ Overs category, Johnny and Kitty Brucknell, to take part in the sing-off.
Despite the judges unanimously voting off Johnny, he sang a faultless and heart-felt version of Unchained Melody, showing his forte for ballads.
Kitty, meanwhile, sang Beautiful Disaster by Kelly Clarkson. The judges all agreed that the controversial diva had greater potential in the music industry and was more likely to win a record deal.
The Sunday show also saw the return of X Factor runners-up JLS, who performed their new single Take a Chance on Me.
Florence + The Machine also made an appearance on the same night that their latest album, Ceremonials, reached number one in the UK album charts.
Performing Shake It Out, Florence Welch lead the band with a huge set and backing dancers, having just heard the news that her second album has sold more than 90,000 copies in its first week of release.
