Musicroom Portsmouth value and support out local music scene and often welcome in artists/bands to come and perform in-store.
On Saturday the 7th of April we will welcome an acoustic performance from Zenthetix at 3pm! Entrance is of course free!
A little about the band: Formed in the spring of 2011, Zenthetix evolved quickly from a project on ice for guitarist Matthew “Shifty” Alger, into a snowball careening down a glacier, gathering all in its path. Drummer Lewi Paffett was the last piece in a jigsaw that saw Shifty joined by Ben “Puzzles” Allen on bass, and Phil Stoker on vocals and keyboards.
Despite having to take two extended breaks while Phil was treated for cancer, the band has built an impressive fan base in less than a year, regularly filling Portsmouth’s musical mecca The Wedgewood Rooms, en route to being named runners-up in the Band 11 showcase, and making a lot of friends along the way.
Now fully fit and raring to hit the next level, Zenthetix are the complete live experience. Snarling guitar riffs underpinned by sumptuous low strung bass lines, intricate and detailed drumming, finished off with soaring vocal melodies, laden with harmony, dynamism and grit.
The band plans its debut EP launch in summer 2012, working with Tim Stephens, guitarist for 80s revivalists EMF, and will be engaging the services of Martin Bird and Rob Aubrey along the way. Expect the stage show to get bigger, the audience to get more and more rapt, and the energy levels to hit new highs. The Mayans thought 2012 was to herald the end of existence – Zenthetix are likely to buck that by making it very much the beginning of theirs….
