"I'm sharing the enjoyment of playing" – Philip Glass Discusses The Etudes (Exclusive Interview)

When one of the most imitated composers in history releases some sheet music which you don’t need a whole orchestra to play, it’s a seriously good day.
We managed to grab Philip for a chat a few weeks ago and he illuminated us as to why he felt so passionately about publishing these 20 pieces of music, why he created them in the first place and what purpose they had for him as a player and a composer.
In this one of two interviews Philip speaks with us candidly about how the pieces helped improve his piano playing and how the Etudes quite unintentionally became a self-portrait.
You can find the Etudes here if you fancy trying out some minimalism in your own living room.
