ABRSM and Hal Leonard Europe have hit the right note by working together and publishing new Singing for Musical Theatre Songbooks! This new partnership supports the recent launch of ABRSM’s Singing for Musical Theatre exams, for Grades 1–3.
For many singers, accessing a variety of popular, published songs from a wide-range of musicals in one place can be challenging. Through working in partnership with Hal Leonard Europe, ABRSM have combined their world renowned expertise in syllabus development together with music publishing to create a fantastic songbook collection. The collection will not only help support ABRSM Grade 1-3 candidates with their exam preparations, but are certain to be hugely popular with musical theatre fans who just love to sing or to take to auditions.

A living list
ABRSM’s Singing for Musical Theatre syllabus was first published online and is a living list. This is so that it can be regularly refreshed and updated, allowing candidates to perform songs from the latest musicals in the exam room.
ABRSM recently added a further 30 songs across Grades 1-3 to the syllabus. The added songs feature in recent shows and films such as Mary Poppins Returns, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again as well as some re-discovered favourites.
The updated lists are available now, and the added songs can be used in exams from 1 January 2020.
