With the Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck documentary now showing in cinemas, there was a fair amount of anticipation of unheard Nirvana/Kurt music bubbling to the surface after director Brett Morgen had to sift through hundreds of previously unexplored audio tapes.
One diamond that has come from this is a snippet of the Nirvana frontman recording a haunting cover of the Beatles’ “And I Love Her. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as Kurt made no secret of not being the biggest fan of McCartney – ” Nobody in Kurt’s life — not his management, wife, bandmates — had ever heard his Beatles thing,” Morgen told Rolling Stone. “I found it on a random tape. It’s a Paul song. How’s that for shattering the myth?”
