Football fan releases charity song

A football fan from Watford has released a new song in order to raise funds for charity this Christmas.
Watford FC supporter Chris Ambrose, 23, penned the football-themed song, entitled, Come on You ‘Orns’, and plans to give any proceeds from sales to the Watford Peace Hospice, the Watford Observer reported. “As the song had a strong local theme, I thought it would only be right to choose a local charity,” Mr Ambrose told the news provider.
The singer-songwriter explained that the idea for the song came to him while watching a game at the Vicarage Road stadium earlier this year. He said that the air of a subdued crowd got him thinking about what makes a good song for a football chant.
The fan, who studied music and record production while at university, added: “It was the concept of writing ‘catchy’ guitar pop songs that I decided to take into a football match environment.
“By putting together the different elements that I consider to be integral parts of an appealing guitar-pop song, ‘Come On You ‘Orns’ was formed.”
Mr Ambrose explained that the track, which will be played at the Watford FC v Cardiff City match on December 28th, could come from a range of influences including 1960s groups like The Kinks and British rock acts of the 1990s.
The song is available to buy as a download now from the Apple iTunes store and Amazon.
It comes after a youth project in Swindon, conducted during the summer, has resulted in the production of a new album of tracks.
The Swindon Advertiser reported that around 80 youngsters recorded the 13-track album with Create Studios, Swindon’s digital media centre.
Available in the town’s central library, the collection of songs, raps and rhymes is the result of work conducted on the ‘Createmobile’ a community-focussed youth project, which invites young people to get creative with a mobile recording studio taken to their neighbourhoods.
Create Studio manager, Shahina Johnson, told the newspaper: “Young people in Parks loved having the Createmobile service in their midst.
“Our work is all about making changes in people’s lives by giving them creative opportunities to try something new and build confidence in their own abilities. The CD is fantastic and we wanted Swindon people to be able to hear it.”
