Foo Fighters hint at new album in 2012

Lead singer of Foo Fighters Dave Grohl has hinted that the band could release a new album some time in 2012.
Writing in a blog on the band’s website, he revealed plans to write new songs for what will be the eighth studio album next year.
“We’re not finished yet,” he wrote. “There are still more shows to play, more songs to write, more albums to record, for years to come. I mean…..If you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our 8th studio album….well…..”
Looking back on 2011, he thanked the band’s fans for making the album Wasting Light a number one record around the world and showed his disbelief at being nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year.
Wasting Light was recorded in a garage in analog, “with no help from computers” and was the “album of a lifetime” for the band.
Explaining the reason for the back-to-basics recording, Grohl wrote: “From day one, the idea for this record was to make something completely simple and honest, to capture that thing that happens when you put the five of us in a small room.
“No big production, just real rock and roll music: That’s why we decided to do it in my garage.  We wanted to retain that human element, keep all of those beautiful imperfections: That’s why we went completely analog.”
The band will be touring the hugely-successful album next year, while they will find out if they are the winners of a Grammy on February 12th.
Dave Grohl could also be set to have a Christmas number one, as fans of his former band Nirvana are trying to boost sales of Smells Like Teen Spirit to stop X Factor winner Little Mix from getting to the top spot.
