A new movie, which was filmed at last year’s T in the Park music festival, will return to its home for the premiere tomorrow (July 7th).
Called You Instead, the romantic comedy stars Luke Treadway and Natalia Tena with the Scottish festival as its setting of a ‘lost weekend at a music festival’.
What’s more, the independent movie’s soundtrack echoes much of what the festival is all about, with the likes of Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay.
The film’s director David Mackenzie commented: “After shooting the film entirely at last year’s T in the Park, it was only natural that we brought it back to where it was born, one year on. The fans – as well as the festival – are what made the project, so I’m delighted they will get to see the finished film before anyone else!”
You Instead tells the story of Adam, one half of indie band The Make, who becomes “accidentally handcuffed” to Morello, lead singer of girl punk band The Dirty Pinks. This means they must get through the festival weekend together, deliver their performances on stage and explain themselves to their significant others.
Actors and the crew stayed with the crowds on the campsite while filming last year during the five-day shoot.
Festival-goers will be able to catch the movie tomorrow at the campsite cinema.
“The film really captures the spirit of what T in the Park is about, and we can’t wait to get our 18th year underway with this exciting preview screening,” added Geoff Ellis, festival director of T in the Park.
Running until July 10th, the event in Balado, Kinross-shire, will see a huge line-up, including sets by Pulp, Foo Fighters, Beyonce and The Strokes, playing to crowds of more than 80,000 people.
Other artists set to appear include Scottish star KT Tunstall, Blondie, Tinie Tempah, Eliza Doolittle, Friendly Fires, Manic Street Preachers and Primal Scream.
