Fender Super-Sonic 'Black Gold' limited edition Amplifiers coming to musicroom

Fender have just announced a limited edition amplifier – the Super-Sonic 22 ‘Black Gold’. With an elegant two-tone gold and black covering, white piping, and black grille cloth, this amplifier really looks fantastic. The ’60s styling of the Super-Sonic is amplified in this edition, of which there will only be 17 available thoughout the UK. The ivory radio knobs and ’60s scripted logo wouldn’t look out of place as a prop in Mad Men or Magic City!

To match the looks, this all-tube amp has the sounds too. Behind the black grille cloth is a 12″, 8 Ohm Celestion Vintage 30 speaker, powered by a pair of 6V6 power tubes, and preamped with three 12AX7s and two 12AT7, outputting a total of 22 watts. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but anyone that knows what true tube amplifers are capable of know this is more than enough for most players, and will easily fill a large pub or venue.
Fender amps have a very distinctive tone, and it’s abundant in the vintage channel on this limited edition amplifier; it’s capable of a range of overdriven tones, from a light bluesy crunch, all the way to an incendiary distortion, full of sustain.
If you’re looking for something a bit special that no one else will have, this could be it. Musicroom will have three of the seventeen available in the UK, so check out the specs online and pop into our York or Lincoln stores to try it for yourself – you won’t be disappointed!
