John Smits wist dit leuke thema op originele manier te bewerken o.m. met de introductie en het slot voor solotrompet. De woodblock geeft bijna continu het stuwende ritme van de galop der ruiters in de Steppe aan.
The traditional Ukrainian marching song Zaporozsky brings us in a typical Eastern European atmosphere and spontaneously calls nostalgic feelings up. John Smits managed to arrange this fine theme in a most original way with a fine trumpet solo part both in the introduction and the finale. The woodblock almost continuously marks the beat of galopping cavalrymen riding in the Steppes.
La chanson de marche traditionnelle ukrainienne Zaporozsky nous emporte vers l'Est de l'Europe et suscite certainement des sentiments de nostalgie. John Smits a arrangé ce thème d'origine folklorique de façon très originale, entre autres au moyen de l'introduction et du final pour trompette solo. Le woodblock (bloc en bois) souligne pratiquement sans arrêt la cadence du galop des cavaliers dans les steppes.
Das traditionelle ukrainische Marschlied Zaporozsky führt uns in osteuropäische Sphären und ruft unbeachtsichtlich nostalgische Gefühle wach. John Smits hat dieses schöne Thema auf ganz originelle Weise bearbeitet; dabei verwendet er am Anfang und am Ende des Stückes ein Trompetensolo und der Holz-block (Woodblock) gibt fast ständig den anspornenden Rhythmus der galoppierenden Reiter in der Steppe an.
