Later, he asked Brendan Graham, an Irish novelist and lyricist, to write words for the melody. This collaboration gave birth to You Raise Me Up.
The first official version was released by Secret Garden in 2002, featuring Irish singer Brian Kennedy.
However, the song became globally famous when Josh Groban recorded his version in 2003. His interpretation turned the song into an international hit and one of his signature pieces.
The lyrics carry a message of hope, gratitude, and strength. It speaks about someone who supports you in difficult times and helps you rise above challenges.
For this reason, it is often performed at ceremonies, charity concerts, weddings.
