Jean Guillou gehört zu den führenden Orgelkomponisten der Gegenwart. Seine bisher einzige Komposition für Chor a cappella entstand im Februar 2010 und wurde anlässlich seines 80. Geburtstags am 18. April desselben Jahres im Dom zu Altenberg (bei Köln) uraufgeführt. Inspiriert hat den Komponisten ein Sonett des schlesischen Barockdichters Martin Opitz (1597-1639), das ein einziger Lobpreis auf die Geliebte (Flavia) ist: Die Natur soll helfen, die unendliche Liebe zum Ausdruck zu bringen. "So bitt ich, Himmel, Luft, Wind, Hügel, Hainen, Wälder, Wein, Brunnen, Wüstenei, Saat, Höhlen, Steine, Felder und Felsen: sagt es ihr, sagt es ihr für mich!" Das anspruchsvolle Chorwerk ist in weltlichen und geistlichen Programmen einsetzbar.

L'unique composition pour choeur a cappella - jusqu'à présent - de Jean Guillou a été écrite en février 2010 ; la première eut lieu le 18 avril de la même année en la cathédrale d'Altenberg (près de Cologne), à l'occasion du 80e anniversaire de son auteur.
