Published by DER3 Music (A0.1848058)."Worship the Lord" by Edwin Hawkins is an energetic, festive praise song that he recorded with his choir/singers along wiht the Oakland Symphony Orchestra. The performance of this album was featured on a PBS Special. The song goes from major to minor to major thorughout. Mr. Robinson arranged it in the parallel D minor and D major. Musicians should be careful of the changing key signatures, accidentals and so on. It has a lot of accented syncopations, which can be a fun challenge for young musicians. Mr. Robinson said that he wasn't going to water down these rhythms. He says, "if you want water, go to the well of classic spirit, rhythm and soul." This song can be performed at sacred music (gospel) musicals, ceremonial occasions, at senior citizen facilities, and so on. Mr. Robinson has taught, directed, and played (on Hammond organ) this song with choirs at churches. He actually learned of this song from a friend before the album was released. Percussion and piano parts are provided, which are optional. A string orchestra score is also provided so that the director does not have to turn so many pages.
