Dit 2-delige Concertino werd geschreven in opdracht van Oranje Minnertsga en is opgedragen aan Omar Tomasoni, solotrompettist van het Concertgebouw Orkest. In het eerste deel: Frozen Night, wordt de lyrische kant van het trompetspel belicht. In het 2e deel: Dancing Snow, ligt de nadruk op de virtuoze kant van het trompetspel, met een concertante wisselwerking tussen solist en orkest. Een aangepaste solopartij maakt dit Concertino ook bereikbaar voor de Flugelhorn.

Winter Words was commissioned by the fanfare orchestra Oranje Minnertsga and is dedicated to Omar Tomasoni, principal trumpet with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. The piece consists of 2 parts. The first part Frozen Night, shows off the lyrical side of the trumpet. In the second part, Dancing Snow, the emphasis is more on virtuosic trumpet playing. There is also an adapted solo part for flugelhorn available, making the solo playable for those players.

Ce concertino en 2 mouvements était écrit pour Omar Tomasoni, trompette solo au Concertgebouw Orkest. Dans le premier mouvement, Frozen Night, le coté lyrique de la trompette est mis en valeur dans deux cadences. Dans le deuxième mouvement, Dancing Snow, l’accent est plus mis sur le coté virtuose, avec une alternance concertante entre soliste et orchestre. Une partie solo adaptée rend ce concertino aussi jouable pour bugle.

Winter Words entstand im Auftrag des friesischen Fanfareorchesters Oranje aus Minnertsga und ist Omar Tomasoni gewidmet, Solotrompeter im Concertgebouw-Orchester Amsterdam. Die Komposition besteht aus zwei Teilen. Im ersten Teil Frozen Night steht die lyrische Seite des Trompetenspiels im Vordergrund. Im zweiten Teil Dancing Snow liegt der Schwerpunkt auf der virtuosen Seite des Trompetenspiels. Im Stimmensatz ist auch eine Solostimme für Flügelhorn vorhanden.
