Brass Ensemble Euphonium, French Horn, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download
SKU: A0.1805561
Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Patrick Dunnigan. This edition: pdf. 20th Century, Chamber, Classical. 57 pages. Patrick Dunnigan #1365781. Published by Patrick Dunnigan (A0.1805561).
Wiener Philharmoniker Fanfare (aka Fanfare for the Vienna Philharmonic), AV 109, was written in 1924 for a fundraising ball benefiting the musician's pension fund. Held on March 4 of that year, the ball took place during the celebration of Fasching (also known as Carnivale). The Fanfare was played as honored guests arrived at the event. Strauss dedicated it to the ‘wonderful members’ of the Vienna Philharmonic.
This new edition rescores the music for a brass choir similar to a standard brass section in a modern wind ensemble or concert band. This makes the piece more assessable for contemporary musicians. This arrangement can be performed with as few as sixteen musicians. To facilitate greater accessibility, the trumpet and horn parts are transposed for modern instruments: French horn parts are in F, and trumpet parts in both B-flat and C are provided. (Note that the trumpet parts in C are a substitute for the B-flat parts.) The euphonium parts could be considered optional but they have been added to reinforce the low brass parts and, more importantly, the basso horn parts.
INSTRUMENTATION:
Trumpets 1-4 (parts in B-flat and C are provided) F Horns 1-4 Tenor Trombones 1-3 Bass Trombone Euphoniums 1-2 Tuba Timpani.
