White, Red, Green March was composed in Oman for the ensembles of the Royal Guard of Oman. The title reflects a symbolic connection between two national identities: while the Hungarian tricolour is red, white, and green, the Omani flag features the same colours in the order white, red, and green. This shared palette naturally inspired both the musical concept and the title of the work.

Building on this connection, the march incorporates thematic material from Emanuel Dvořák’s Red, White, Green March, reimagined in a new cultural context. Hungarian melodic elements are reshaped and embedded within the sound world of Omani military music, creating a dialogue between Central European tradition and Middle Eastern ceremonial practice.

A distinctive feature of the composition is the inclusion of the Scottish bagpipes, an instrument that forms an integral part of Omani military bands due to the country’s strong historical ties to British military traditions. Through this instrumentation, the march bridges Hungarian musical heritage, Omani ceremonial culture, and British-influenced military practice.

White, Red, Green March stands as an experimental yet respectful cross-cultural work—an exploration of how Hungarian melodic identity can be adapted and integrated into the Omani military music tradition while preserving the dignity and ceremonial character of both cultures.
