This charming song is about the grass whispering your secrets (an idea which comes from Greek mythology) and was first recorded by the Inkspots in 1940. It became very popular after the comedy version by Don Estelle and Windsor Davies reached number on in the UK charts in 1975. They performed the piece as their characters from the BBC sitcom "It Ain't Half Hot, Mum", set in the jungles of Burma (Myanmar). This four-part a cappella barbershop-style version is based on the original non-comedy version and features some sumptuous jazz harmonies. There is plenty of variety in each part and everyone takes a share of the melody. Some of the intervals are tricky, particularly in the inner S2 and A1 parts. I have catagorised the song as "advanced" in difficulty. I also have a three-part SSA accompanied version available which is less challenging, and has a pretty piano accompaniment.
