Where Angels Fly was commissioned by VLAMO (Flemish Band Association). Kevin Houben wrote this work for the 2017 European Brass Band Championships in Ostend, Belgium. This is a very technical, powerful and virtuosic work with a rather fragile and soft introduction in which the main motif derived from the Belgian composer Paul Gilson’s (1865-1942) La Prière from Le Retour au Pays is developed and also includes Houben’s own musical signature ‘HBE(N)’. Where Angels Fly is a challenging, impressive and virtuosic contest piece.
Where Angels Fly is geschreven in opdracht van de VLAMO (Vlaamse amateurmuziekorganisatie). Kevin Houben schreef dit werk voor de Europese Brassband Kampioenschappen 2017 in het Belgische Oostende. Het is een zeer technisch, krachtig en virtuoos werk met een uiterst fragiele en zachte inleiding waarin het hoofdmotief ontleend aan La Prière uit Le Retour au Pays van Paul Gilson (1865-1942) wordt ontplooid. Het bevat tevens Houbens eigen muzikale handtekening: HBE(N). Where Angels Fly is een uitdagend, indrukwekkend en virtuoos wedstrijdwerk.
Where Angels Fly wurde vom flämischen Musikverband VLAMO in Auftrag gegeben. Kevin Houben hat dieses Stück für die European Brass Band Championships 2017 in Ostende, Belgien, komponiert. Es handelt sich um ein sehr technisches, kraftvolles und zugleich virtuoses Werk, das mit einer eher fragilen und zarten Einleitung beginnt, in der das Hauptmotiv das von dem Stück La Prière aus Le Retour au Pays des belgischen Komponisten Paul Gilson (1865 1942) abgeleitet wurde entwickelt wird. Außerdem enthält das Werk Houbens eigene musikalische Signatur H B E (N). Where Angels Fly ist ein anspruchsvolles, beeindruckendes und virtuoses Wettbewerbsstück.
