This is a Grade 3 Big Band arrangement of the Tower of Power hit off their 1973 album “Tower of Power”. This arrangement has a Latin Soul Funk groove that features the trumpet section on the main verse melody and the saxophone section on the chorus melody. It features a written trumpet 2 solo with chord symbols for an optional ad lib solo and a written tenor 1 solo with chord symbols for an optional ad lib solo. This is an intermediate chart as the lead trumpet range goes to [Ab] above the staff. The middle section includes the icon “What Is Hip” vocal line sung as in the original track by members of the trumpet and trombone sections. This is an engaging take on an icon Tower of Power tune.
