"What A Moonlit Night" (Ukrainian: ніч яка місячна) is a Ukrainian song composed by the kobzar Andriy Voloshchenko and Vasyl Ovchynnikov, set to lyrics from a poem by Mykhailo Starytsky. It is considered to be one of Ukraine's most popular folk songs, in which a man urges his lover to join him at nighttime for a romantic stroll.
This arrangement for concert band passes the melody throughout the ensemble, contains a B section that features the tonality of the Ukrainian Dorian scale, and builds to a dramatic ending.
“What A Moonlit Night” can be performed by a minimal ensemble of flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and percussion.
