"Weepin' Mary" is a traditional spiritual for the Easter season. It is not, however, jubilant and flashy. Rather it is soulful and dwells on the comfort that the risen Christ can bring to those who mourn. This is an expansion and elaboration of H. T. Burleigh's 1917 arrangement, with a new second verse with fresh melodic alterations and a new piano accompaniment and piano interlude. The added length (total running time just under 3-1/2 minutes) makes it more usable in church and in recitals.
