“We Will See You Face to Face” was commissioned and premiered for the 100th anniversary of the School Sisters of St. Francis, on Sunday, April 28, 1974. In August,1974 the SSSF held a weeklong gathering of 1000+ Sisters and Associates called the Chapter of Mats. It was held on the Alverno College campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and it witnessed to this congregation’s history and hope in the future of religious life. The text of the Canticle is based on the Book of Revelation, chapter 22. Suggested use includes memorial services, funerals, the Feast of All Saints (November 1st), and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls, November 2nd). Sr. Agnes (Sylvestra) Meysenburg OSF served on the music faculty of Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a colleague of Srs. Theophane Hytrek, Mary (Maurelia) Hueller, Marie (Francis Marie) Gnader, and Marion (Vernon) Verhaalen who are named in previously published compositions in the School Sisters of St. Francis Music Heritage series. It was Sr. Agnes’ intention that Sr. Marie would be the vocal soloist. Sr. Marie directed the St. Joseph Convent Chapel Singers and is soloist in this video.
