This arrangement of an old familiar carol takes it away of the 'community carol' genre into a choral performance piece. There is a certain seriousness to the style in which this is composed in as some of the themes explored in it are by no means superficial. The syncopated motif in the piano part gives the verses a sense of earnestness and then as the triplet rhythms enter, the music is injected with a sense of momentum as it narrates the journey of the wise men. This is a very moving arrangement that has been enjoyed by many a choir and has moved many an audience.
