Composed by John Wesley Gibson. Fanfare. Score and parts. Lovebird Music #239. Published by Lovebird Music (LB.239).
A clever, syncopated setting of "We Three Kings" that's a breath of fresh air, standing out from the standard holiday fare. It begins with a jazzy, lop-sided groove (that composer John Wesley Gibson calls a "Camel Walk") until the familiar tune slowly emerges. Alternating choral strains with the Camel Walk, this subdued yet challenging arrangement perfectly captures the feeling of those three kings as they "traverse afar..." Composed in 1994 for the Dallas Wind Symphony.
