A programmatic piece for concert band or wind ensemble, imagining a pair of curious explorers visiting a great ruin. "Among the ruins of a once-great civilization there are remnants of music, art, philosophy and aspirations of greatness. And yet these aspirations - these lives - lay in ashes, a distant memnory of what only could have been had they but sought to thrive."
The work features a duet with clarinet and marimba, and flute solo. Section features include an introduction by low reeds and a re-introduction by horns, and an ending that will leave the audience holding their breath.
