Any day I get to go to music is a great day. As a father of four, I am always excited to hear aboutwhat my children have enjoyed about their musical experiences and the people they work with. Andrew Garay is a director who made a difference in their lives as they went to music during his time in the Grove City School District, and I am thankful for the experiences he gave them. It was with that spirit in mind that I wrote this fanfare for his 8 th grade band to perform in the spring of 2023. For some students, when they go to music their anxiety lessens, their mood brightens, they find themselves with their people, and in the band room they feel at home. There are important bi-products that students get from their participation, but ultimately going to music makes it all possible and they get to study, practice, and share a unique art form with their family, friends, and community. It is my hope and prayer for all bands and their directors that this experience is one you find in your rehearsal hall each day. I wish all of you and your ensemble well as We Go To Music!
