By The Police. By Sting. Arranged by Karen Ivana. This edition: pdf, streaming. Pop, Rock. 16 pages. Karen Ivana #1410962. Published by Karen Ivana (A0.1851364).
This song was the second number one hit from the Police, the style is influenced by reggae, but there is some jazz influence. Originally conceived as "walking round the room" the lyrics became as we see them now, and describe the gravity-defying lightness felt when in love. It would fit nicely into a space/moon-themed concert.
It is arranged in three parts, the male voice line is suitable for any voice, tenor or bass, and is written in two clefs to suit all singers.
The tenor/bass part splits in some sections (SATT or SABB) and there is a brief split in the sop 1 line.
The choruses are cheerful and poppy, and the men take the melody, but the middle chorus has a more classical flavour with a little counterpoint to ring the changes.
It is intermediate in difficulty.
