This chorale tune dating from around 1599 has been set for mixed voices SATB and organ (or piano) accompaniment. The various phrases of the chorale are interspersed with organ interludes featuring an interesting counterpoint. The various verses are treated in a strophic manner as per the original chorale. This anthem is highly suitable for Sundays in Advent, but could also figure into your lessons and carols program as well. Finally, it would also be appropriate for Epiphany.
