Composed by Ernest Chausson. Arranged by Armin Terzer. This edition: pdf, streaming. Classical, Romantic Period. Full Orchestra. 125 pages. Armin Terzer #1409788. Published by Armin Terzer (A0.1850109).
Viviane is a symphonic poem by the French composer Ernest Chausson, and his first true composition for orchestra, Named after the fairy Viviane of Arthurian legend, Chausson's piece concentrates on the episode of her affair with the wizard Merlin in the forest of Broncéliande.
Viviane was begun in September 1882 and influenced by the music of César Franck and Richard Wagner. Chausson completed the work in December 1882 and dedicated it to Jeanne Escudier, whom he was going to marry in June. The work was premiered at a concert of the Société Nationale de Musique in the Salle Érard on March 31, 1883, conducted by Édouard Colonne. In 1887, Chausson made a major reorchestration of "Viviane", which was first presented by Charles Lamoureux on January 29, 1888.
This edition (score and parts) is newly typeset and the many errors in the original were corrected. Transposed parts for all trumpets (on- and offstage) in B flat are provided (in addition to the original ones in F and C respectively). All parts are formatted for double-sided (or 2-page spread) printing with appropriate page-turns - they all start on the right hand side except violins (1 & 2), violas and cellos.
