By Antonio Vivaldi. By Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Nina Kopparhed. This edition: pdf. Baroque, Chamber. 67 pages. Arcantora Publications #1282858. Published by Arcantora Publications (A0.1719516).
"La Tempesta di Mare" (the storm at sea), Vivaldi's violin concerto in E flat major, Op. 8 No. 5, RV 253 was published as part of the same set of concertos as the far more famous "The 4 seasons" "Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'invenzione" (the contest between harmony and invention).
As stormy as the title suggests, this wonderful violin concerto is well worth programming: it's short, but incredibly exciting, and very popular with audiences.
Here is La Tempesta di Mare, arranged for string quartet. This arrangement is the complete concerto, unsimplified and uncut. We have left the 1st violin/solo part completely untouched, so you can safely use your own, but should you choose to use this one, it has been left clean, so you can transfer your own markings into this one. Note: if you are using this solo part, it's worth noting that a couple of the semiquaver passages in our solo part, which in some editions are written out in shorthand (block chords), have in this version been helpfully written out in one of the "established" ways of playing the string crossing patterns (you'll recognise them from a lot of the more famous recordings, using Baroque instruments ).
Thank you for looking and I hope that you enjoy this string quartet arrangement of Vivaldi's "La Tempesta di Mare".
