Composed by Linda Fox. Arranged by Linda Fox. This edition: pdf. Baroque, Chamber, Early Music, Opera. 11 pages. Linda Fox Fairbairns #1450003. Published by Linda Fox Fairbairns (A0.1891449).

Polly Peachum’s first song combines lyrical simplicity with a sharply ironic edge, as she reflects on love, innocence, and their inevitable consequences. Set in a gentle, flowing Andante and supported by a light, transparent chamber texture, the music contrasts delicacy with a darker, telling conclusion.

A short but expressive soprano piece, ideal for recital or teaching, offering both lyrical line and dramatic contrast.

John Gay (1685-1732) set the words to a melody by Henry Purcell. A vocal score is appended, and is also published separately.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
