The oldest written secular Norse tune, the song Dromde mik en
Drom i Nat (I had a dream) was found in a law book from about 1300
in what was Denmark. Imaged above.
Nobilis Hominis, (Noble and Humble) a hymn to St Magnus, is from
Orkney , also from about 1300. The original has two voices.
Ramund var sig en bedre mandhin unge (Y oung Ramund was a
better man) is a traditional Danish medieval ballad first noted in the
1600s although its origin is unknown. The song tells tales of this hero, Ramund

Double Bass).
