Clara Schumann likely composed her Four Fleeting Pieces, Op. 15, during one of the happiest periods of her life – she wrote them in the year of her marriage to Robert Schumann, a long-cherished dream that finally came true in 1840. This year marked not only her personal triumph but also her successful return to musical life under the name Clara Schumann, as evidenced by her successful performance at the Leipzig Gewandhaus in 1841.
Andrea Botelho faced a particularly complex task in adapting these 4 Fleeting Pieces, originally written for solo piano, so that they sound as if they were originally composed for double bass and piano.
