Great piece, really technical and detailed, but not too difficult for a high school band such as mine to play well if the drive to play well is there.

It is a very technical piece, but it is also one of the most compelling that I have ever come across. The melodic line is deceptively simple despite the odd time signatures, and the sax-heavy sections are a pleasure to hear (so few pieces in the classical style do that, as even when the pre-sax pieces are adapted for bands the saxes only get the viola part). A reasonably talented high school band could render this piece decently well.

This song is extremely challenging for high school students. But, this song will help them learn to count weird time signatures like 9/8 or 1/4 or 8/8 or 7/8 or... you get the idea. It's a wonderful, well thought out song, and it takes practice, but it's worth it. Needs concentration to actually play the song, but I'm sure a skilled high school band could do it. Sounds amazing to an audience and its lots of fun. Deserves 5 stars.
