A sublime composition, commissioned by Thomas Stacy, English hornist for the New York Philharmonic, in which the two instruments are beautifully integrated. Hampton used various verses of the text as inspiration for some of the variations. The composition utilizes special effects available on the organ as well as the English horn, so the set inspires virtuoso performances on both instruments.
