Based on Norwegian folksongs, the melodies in this piece are played by all sections, moving from the winds to the strings and sometimes doubled. The fanfares in the brass add a very regal sound. The strings will enjoy the beautiful phrases in both melody and countermelody roles. This is a fine addition to the orchestra repertoire!
