Stewart J Wallace #1389400. Published by Stewart J Wallace (A0.1829675).This is a vocal piece I composed using words from Shakespeare's play "As You Like It". Although we don't have a score of the original music, over the years there have been several settings by other composers, including Thomas Arne (1710-1778) William Walton (1902-1982), and more recently Patrick Doyle (1953) for the 2006 film version of the play.
This is my own version, with 5 choral parts, although the soprano and tenor 1 are just doubling the melody line at the octave, so it could be sung with 4 parts. There are piano interludes at the start and between the verses and choruses, and the overall atmosphere should be relaxed and dreamy, as if you are sitting under a tree in the summer heat. The verse rhythms want to sound like they are being spoken, almost like recitative in classical songs, and then the sound needs to be full and expansive in the chorus sections.
This would suit an intermediate school or community choir, and would work particularly well during a performance of Shakepspeare's play "As You Like It", which is the original source of the lyrics.
The recording has been rendered using Dorico, Cubase and Synthesizer V software packages.
