'Der Freischütz', is a German opera with spoken dialogue in three acts by Carl Maria von Weber with a libretto by Friedrich Kind. The plot is based on the German folk legend of the 'Freischütz' and many of its tunes were inspired by German folk music. The aria 'Und ob die Wolke sie verhülle' is sung by Agathe, the daughter of Kuno, friend to Ännchen, in the 3rd act of the Opera: Agathe prays to heaven for protection from the dream she had in which she turned into a dove and Max shot her.
