Un'avventura is a 1969 song written by Lucio Battisti and Mogol, performed by Lucio Battisti and by Wilson Pickett. Presented at the Sanremo Festival, the song stands out for its break with the melodic tradition of the era. The piece addresses the theme of emotional courage: the female protagonist is willing to take risks in order to fully experience a feeling, while her male counterpart is held back by fear. From this contrast comes their separation. The arrangement, driven by a pressing rhythm section and brass interventions, supports a direct vocal performance free of affectation, which would become a hallmark of Battisti’s style. Wilson Pickett’s version highlighted its soul roots, while the Italian version remains one of the first statements of the new singer-songwriter movement: love is not enough without the will to take a chance.
