Great Piece for Soprano Saxophone and Piano
Two Trifles and a Wedding Present was originally adapted from oboe and piano, yet works flawlessly and idiomatically for the soprano saxophone. Given the limited number of accessible pieces for soprano and piano (compared to alto saxophone repertoire, for example), this piece represents a wonderful option for saxophonists wanting to focus on the lyrical aspects of the soprano playing including intonation challenges, vibrato conception, etc., however, not in neglect to the soprano's technical capabilities through the moments of capricious gestures and playful, rhythmic interactions with the piano.
