These contemporary original pieces were written for composer and concert organist Carson Cooman in July of 2025. The "Pavane" and "Galliard" are formal dance forms of the elite that were popular nearly 500 years ago in Italy and France. The instrumental dance music would have been provided by a small renaissance group using the pre-determined musical meters necessary to perform these contrasting dances at a ball or formal party.
For my interpretation I'm maintaining the qualifying meters but have chosen a very modern musical theater style for the Pavane, and some hints of jazz in the Galliard. All written for the classical pipe organ.
