A violin solo with piano accompaniment begins in a reflective mood joined by the soloist in a plaintive statement of the melody. Then up the octave with a vigorous accompaniment giving a sense of urgency takes place. The second section gives way to the tune in the piano while the solo gives movement with a moving obbligato. This all comes to a point of repose and then gravitates to a statement of the introduction in the piano.
