Composed by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Arranged by Jeremy S. Martin. This edition: pdf. Broadway, Holiday, Jazz, Musical/Show. 132 pages. Jeremy S. Martin #1158859. Published by Jeremy S. Martin (A0.1587414).
TURKEY LURKEY TIME is the 1st-half showstopper from the 1968 musical Promises, Promises by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. This arrangement for vocalist(s) and band by Jeremy S. Martin is for an advanced ensemble, and will require a drummer and electric bass player. Although piano and guitar parts are included, and will make the arrangement sound more authentically Broadway-style, they aren't essential. A good lead trumpet player is also highly recommended.
Although not technically a "holiday" work, the song occurs in the musical as the cast celebrates a holiday party. So if Die Hard can be a Christmas movie, Turkey Lurkey Time can be a holiday song (Thanksgiving OR Christmas) if you want.
WARNING: this song will become the ultimate ear-worm for you and your musicians over the course of your rehearsals and concert season. They will absolutely roll their eyes at this song at first, but give it a week and they won't shut up about it.
