Published by James Linn (A0.1828550).This is a saxophone quintet arrangement (soprano, 2 altos, tenor, and baritone) of a tune recorded by legendary jazz trumpeter, Miles Davis. This arrangement in the key of Eb major has been modulated up from the original key of D major. After the head is played twice in the beginning, several solo sections have been written out for various parts, with the head played again at the end by baritone and both alto saxes. The solo sections may be ad libbed by players as desired. This familiar jazz standard has been covered by many artists, including by saxophonist John Coltrane, a member of the Miles Davis quintet at the height of 1950s-60s jazz. Coltrane left an indelible mark on this piece with his ability to solo through the chord changes. This is an advanced level piece with a blazingly fast tempo!
