Dit was oorspronkelijk het tweede deel uit Boyces Voluntary in D, een werk dat erg geliefd is in de Anglikaanse Kerk als slotstuk voor allerlei plechtigheden zoals onder meer huwelijken. In deze uitgave werd het door Rodney Parker grondig herwerkt in barokstijl voor twee solo trompetten en harmonieorkest. Het verdient de voorkeur de twee solisten afzonderlijk te plaatsen; het ideaal is dat zij wat hoger, links en rechts van het orkest opgesteld staan, maar dan niet op te grote afstand. Het stuk moet in herkenbare barokstijl gespeeld worden waarbij speciaal aandacht besteed moet worden aan de dynamiek en de articulatie. De begeleiding mag nooit de solisten overstemmen en het werk moet beslist 'lichtvoetig' gespeeld worden. Dit is vooral belangrijk voor de bastuba en de andere basinstrumenten waarvoor dit werk een fitness test is!

Originally the second movement of Boyce's Voluntary in D, this piece has become popular in the English Church as a postlude for occasions such as weddings. In this edition it has been extensively re-arranged by Rodney Parker in baroque style for two solo trumpets and band.The solo trumpets are best placed apart, ideally above and to each side of the band but not too far away. The piece should be played in a clear baroque style with special attention to dynamics and articulation. The accompaniments should never overpower the soloists and it should always be performed lightly. This is most important for the Tuba and other bass instruments for which this piece is a fitness test!

A l'origine il s'agit du deuxième mouvement de Voluntary in D de Boyce, une œuvre devenue populaire dans l'Eglise Anglicane et utilisée souvent comme final pour des cérémonies religieuses et des mariages. Dans cette édition elle a été sensiblement arrangée dans le style baroque par Rodney Parker pour deux trompettes solos avec accompagnement d'orchestre d'harmonie. Il vaut mieux placer les deux solistes séparément, l'idéal étant de les faire prendre place de chaque côté de l'orchestre si possible à un niveau plus élévé. Le morceau doit être interprété dans le style baroque tout en respectant minutieusement la dynamique et les articulations. Faîtes attention à ce que l'accompagnement ne couvre jamais les deux solistes et à ce que le tout soit joué aussi légèrement que possible. Ceci est important pour le tuba basse et les autres basses, ce morceau étant un test de mise en forme pour ces musiciens-là.

Ursprünglich war dieses Werk der zweite Teil seiner Komposition Voluntary in D. Es wurde besonders bekannt da es in der Anglikanischen Kirche oft am Ende von Hochzeitsfeiern oder von anderen Feierlichkeiten gespielt wurde. In dieser Ausgabe ist das Werk von Rodney Parker im Barokstil für Zwei Solotrompeten und Blasorchester arrangiert worden. Am besten werden die beiden Solisten bzw. links und rechts des Orchesters aufgestellt, am liebsten auf einer höheren Ebene. Man soll das Stück in einem klaren Barokstil spielen und besonders die Dynamik und die Artikulation beachten. Die Begleitung soll niemals die Solisten überstimmen. Vor allem für die Baßinstru-mente ist dieses Werk also eine Art 'Fitneßtest'.
