Trois Chansons (de Charles d'Orleans) by Claude Debussy 4-Part - Sheet Music

By Claude Debussy

1. Dieu! qui'il la fait bon regarder 2. Quant j'ai ouy le tabourin 3. Yver, vous n'este qu'un villain Here published as a set at an attractive price, these three miniatures are a staple of the a cappella choral repertoire. Claude Debussy (1862-1918) set the evocative, playful poems of Charles d'Orleans (1394-1465) in his accessible, immediately appealing style. Pristine new engravings feature, for the first time, a piano reduction for rehearsal. Translations for study are included.

Very Nice!

I was delighted to discover that Debussy had written a set of 3 Chansons, and ordered them for my A Cappella group. The writing looks charming throughout. #1 is gorgeous but challenging; #2 is quite charming, requires lots of divisi in the tenors; #3 is tricky but great fun, and fortunately starts in a comfortable key. The International Phonetic Alphabet translations and guide to French pronunciation in the front are a big plus.

Beautiful but Hard

These songs are beautiful in the recordings but way harder than they seem. The select choir from my small church lost interest cause they were not approachable enough.
