As the other instruments join in, the reverberations of the piano spawn “resonance threads” that gradually take on lives of their own. The compositional materials seem to entangle themselves in a net. Lurking in the wild, impulsive gestures of this music is “the astonishing expression of dishevelled savagery” (Gordon Kampe).
